Why Sometimes It Gets Worse Before It Gets Better

When we pray it opens up the floodgates of heaven onto the object of our prayer.  Heaven is huge and compared to heaven the object of our prayer is the size of a pin point.  Having that much power focused onto our petitions opens the door to resentment because God deals with the conscience.

A person wrongs us or a situation hurts innocent people so the devil rejoices.  The devil and his imps will prompt people to retaliate instead of trusting God.  The devil will also place doubt into the minds of those praying only to see things get worse.

When God starts to deal with the consciences of those who are wrong most people will retaliate because of the pride of always wanting to be right.  Therefore they will act worse.  They have an urge to want to prove everybody wrong.  They will do everything in their power to broadcast their wrong doings wanting others to join with them or sympathize on their behalf.  Some will call into radio or TV talk shows and vent anger even if it’s not on the topic of discussion.  Others will riot and vandalize things.  A convicted conscience will bring out the worst in some people all in the name of pride.

Occasionally God allows a confrontation to test us.  Our response should always be gentle and kind and respectfully disagree.  We are never to have a showdown with these people or situations because the battle has already been won.

No enemy wants to be reminded they are wrong because they already realize they have made a mistake and do not want it exposed.  Prayer jolts their hearts so, yes they will be defensive.

When things get worse after we begin to pray, praise God.  It is visible proof He is dealing with their hearts.  The best retaliation is more prayer.  These people or situations are being dealt with by God and no person or group can measure His kind of power.

2 Timothy 2:25-26  New Living Translation

Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.  Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
