Sometimes No Is The Best Answer

HPIM3409

People pray for all types of things to work out.  Many pray for salvation for their family and friends while others pray for healing.  These are the prayers that when answered bring glory to God.  Only Jesus saves and there are illnesses that only God can heal.  God delights in each person who becomes saved.  God is ready to heal the sick by either strengthening them through doctors, raising them up or bringing them to share in His glory.

There are other prayers being made for things like promotions, fame, riches and other luxuries that bring quick recognition to God.  Shortly afterwards it is onward to baste in the happiness of having these things and popularity.  When fame turns into a situation where others are being run over or material things lead to selfishness, is that really an answer that glorifies God?  In some cases an unanswered prayer will protect many people from hurt and disappointment.  The person protected the most is the one who does not get the fame or material things that keeps his/her focus away from God.

Jesus asked during His sermon on the mountain, “What good is it to gain the whole world and forfeit your soul?”  It’s not that the prayer was ignored but instead Jesus loves so much that He protects from very serious consequences.  Pride causes dangerous results.  Thank God, He knows when to say no.

Jeremiah 49:15-16

I will make her weak among the nations and despised by all, says the Lord. You have been fooled by your fame and your pride, living there in the mountains of Petra, in the clefts of the rocks. But though you live among the peaks with the eagles, I will bring you down, says the Lord.
