My Quiet Meditation

Life has its times of turmoil.  One thing doesn’t quite go right so we work hard and fix it.  Then a second thing happens so we try to fix that and it doesn’t fix.  Then other things come up that need our attention but even that doesn’t solve anything.

These are the times God is calling us to rest in His arms.  He is telling us to lie in His green pastures and focus on Him.  As we unwind and relax beside His still waters, He will refresh us.  Things that took so much attention and frustration will not seem nearly as big and answers will slowly unfold in a beautiful way.

Psalm 23:1-3

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Engagement

There is nothing more exciting than to be given a ring and asked to be become a bride.  The word “engagement” means just that.  A promise has been made and there is a ring to prove you now belong exclusively to that special someone.  It’s time to show everybody the ring so they can get excited along with you.  There are lots of plans to be made, what date to be set, who do we invite to all the parties and to the wedding ceremony itself, and what clothes to wear.

John 3:16 says, For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16 is God’s marriage proposal to all of us.  It’s time to be excited and tell everybody.  We show our new attitudes of love toward one another and invite everybody we see to join in the celebration.  There are no guest limits so there is room for all the people we invite.  What a glorious day that will be.

Revelation 19:7

Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.

The Faded Gift

The Faded Gift

There are people in life who always have a smile and a kind word for everybody. We sometimes do many favors for these people because of their popularity, yet even the simplest of tasks we can not count on them.
There are other people like the mean school teacher who always yells, disciplines and is quick to give a failing mark. Yet forty years later that same teacher is there with encouragement, a listening ear and for one student even a check.
Gifts from God are not always wrapped in a rich man’s wrapping paper. Sometimes the most beautifully wrapped package becomes the biggest disappointment when opened. On the other hand, a gift that is not so greatly wrapped makes one look past the paper and find something much better.
Luke 10:30-35
Jesus replied with a story: A Jewish man was traveling from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.
By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.
Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next time I’m here.’

It’s funny sometimes when we feel everything is working out and life is a breeze there comes times of trials shortly afterwards.  It’s a matter of our best v/s God’s best.

When we are being molded into His likeness life can seem tough.  When things don’t quite fit like they used to or lifelong friends no longer seem to care we are being touched by our Potter’s Hand.  Many times He allows us to be alone, just Him and us, for personal attention and growth.

God lifts us up during these trials where we can see and appreciate His Glory and Love.  While we are on these earthly mountain tops we do not have the privilege of being lifted up.

Isaiah 64:8

And yet, O Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay, and You are the Potter. We all are formed by Your hand.

Trials To Triumph

There is a saying that the best day here on earth is as good as it gets to one who does not know Christ. To a saved person the worst day here on earth is only as bad as it gets, afterwards the rewards of God in Heaven are so beautiful it can not be put into humanly words.
1 Peter 5:10
In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.
