My Quiet Meditation

Encouragement, Pass It On

Encouragement, Pass It On

Imagine what would happen if people told each other face to face some of the nice things they say about a person who passes away.

There is something good to be said about all people.  To focus on the good in a person gives that person something positive to grasp and to grow.

Kindness calms the heart and shines a light on hope.  Jesus did not tell us to judge the world but instead to spread the good news that He loves each person enough to give His life.

Romans 12:9-10

Don’t just pretend that you love others: really love them. Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good.  Love each other with brotherly affection and take delight in honoring each other

If we can not even imagine what God is like then think what it will be like when we actually see Jesus.

Isaiah 6:2-4

Hovering about Him were mighty, six-winged angels of fire. With two of their wings they covered their faces, with two others they covered their feet, and with two they flew.  In a great antiphonal chorus they sang, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is filled with His glory.” Such singing it was! It shook the Temple to its foundations, and suddenly the entire sanctuary was filled with smoke.

It’s Time

It’s Time

It is always time to go about the Lord’s business.  Let today be the day when praise is given to God for what He does and Who He Is.

Pastors, missionaries, prayer warriors and all people who work hard promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ are in need of prayers and support.  Their opposition from the devil is constant because they bring the truth.  The Apostle Paul asked many times for prayer support.

It’s easier sometimes to pray for help for those in need than to pray for those who do the helping.  Getting help from the ministry comforts and it sometimes gets taken for granted.  Putting God’s business first will open the door of bigger blessings and opportunities.  It is a priority to keep watch and continue in the things that are pleasing to God.  He guarantees He will come unannounced.

Mark 13:35-37

“Keep a sharp lookout! For you do not know when I will come, at evening, at midnight, early dawn or late daybreak. Don’t let Me find you sleeping. Watch for My return! This is my message to you and to everyone else.”

Sometimes No Is The Best Answer

Sometimes No Is The Best Answer

People pray for all types of things to work out.  Many pray for salvation for their family and friends while others pray for healing.  These are the prayers that when answered bring glory to God.  Only Jesus saves and there are illnesses that only God can heal.  God delights in each person who becomes saved.  God is ready to heal the sick by either strengthening them through doctors, raising them up or bringing them to share in His glory.

There are other prayers being made for things like promotions, fame, riches and other luxuries that bring quick recognition to God.  Shortly afterwards it is onward to baste in the happiness of having these things and popularity.  When fame turns into a situation where others are being run over or material things lead to selfishness, is that really an answer that glorifies God?  In some cases an unanswered prayer will protect many people from hurt and disappointment.  The person protected the most is the one who does not get the fame or material things that keeps his/her focus away from God.

Jesus asked during His sermon on the mountain, “What good is it to gain the whole world and forfeit your soul?”  It’s not that the prayer was ignored but instead Jesus loves so much that He protects from very serious consequences.  Pride causes dangerous results.  Thank God, He knows when to say no.

Jeremiah 49:15-16

I will make her weak among the nations and despised by all, says the Lord. You have been fooled by your fame and your pride, living there in the mountains of Petra, in the clefts of the rocks. But though you live among the peaks with the eagles, I will bring you down, says the Lord.

Forfeit Is Not Always A Penalty

Forfeit Is Not Always A Penalty

In the game of life it is a constant battle between what is right and what is wrong.  The devil is always looking for an open person to throw his football of temptation to.  In this particular game it’s best to fumble, run the other way to get off the field.  The devil’s temptation is one touch down we do not want on our record.  The applause may be great among men but the attention quickly dies when the punishment comes.

When temptation is thrown at us there is no penalty to forfeit the game.  The winning points will happen later.  God will see to it.

James 1:13-17

And remember, when someone wants to do wrong it is never God who is tempting him, for God never wants to do wrong and never tempts anyone else to do it.  Temptation is the pull of man’s own evil thoughts and wishes. These evil thoughts lead to evil actions and afterwards to the death penalty from God. So don’t be misled, dear brothers.  But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God, the Creator of all light, and He shines forever without change or shadow.
