This happens in life. Coworkers, church members, neighbors and even family members sometimes act mad and quit speaking. This is probably the worst type of manipulation a person can use. It creates a sense of uncertainty in us and it attacks our very character. We have been a good employee, friend or neighbor but there is a void because of the sudden absence of one where we thought we were on good terms.
We try speaking only to have them turn their backs right in our face. They will not answer their phone or message. Sometimes we ask others who are still on terms with that person what we have said or done. We inquire around to see if that person has spoken bad of us. We cry, worry, pray and try to come up with something we can do nice to make amends. We sometimes even plot evil to see if we can get them back.
When a person suddenly is not on terms and will not give a reason it can throw a wrench into the workings of our everyday living because all thoughts are on the one not speaking. Wow, what a horrible and cruel form of manipulation. Even worse is the way we emotionally beat up our own selves over it. Then we beat ourselves up again when we discover we have devoted hours to this situation and not to more important things.
It’s a natural thing to want to either make amends or retaliate toward such hatred. This is just human nature and how the world handles things. However God has not turned His back. God still listens and God still speaks. He Who created the whole world and every one here can recreate once His divine purpose in all of this has been fulfilled. This is where our focus must be.
Instead of asking God why, we must be asking what response should we make in order to fulfill His purpose. Our response should be to God, not the offender. When these things happen God always has something in mind. Instead of thinking about the heartache caused by the offender it’s time to shift gears in our way of thinking. God has the hairs on our head numbered. He knew us from the beginning of time and brought us into this world with a specific purpose. This is an opportunity to commune with God to learn His way of thinking about us.
God is always up to something good. It’s times like this we can trust that God is promoting us to a new and higher level of thinking. We are in school and we are now in the next grade level where the subject matter is beyond our grasp. As we grow into His likeness we start to see ourselves as God sees us we will get peace and freedom. This freedom will release us to emotionally to move to new and exciting beginnings. It’s all about us and God. He will deal with offenders in life because He will not allow a hurt to be unused for His glory. However to remained focused on God’s plan will allow us receive God’s best and all else will grow dim.
Romans 12:2 New Living Translation
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
