Assurance

In our lives are family and friends and as we get older the times of grief are more often.  There is no way to explain the void we feel when a loved one is called home and we are still here.  That very long first night with many sleepless hours of missing our loved one finally becomes dawn.  We hear the birds and see the sunrise knowing our loved one no longer experiences the new days.  It’s hard to determine which is worse, the long night or the new dawn of emptiness.  Whether our loved one was sick for a long time or suddenly a disaster overtakes them we are never totally ready to give them up.

We can think of a million things we want to ask them if we had just one more time.  There are things we rush around to do in order to provide things the way they would have wanted it.  In reality, the rushing around brings closure to us while our loved one is enjoying a new life.

What we are experiencing is normal and there is no wrong way to grieve.  During these times of feeling so all alone God provides signs along the way to let us know He is in total control.

There is no way to explain certain things other than God provided where no man could.  A big smile on the face of someone getting close to being taken home is a gift from God through that loved one to us.  That smile tells us we will meet again.  There is no mistaking that cool breeze sensation in the room just after one of His has been received into heaven.  It’s God’s way of saying heavenly peace now belongs to our loved one.

The Apostle Paul put things beautifully when he said he could not explain the awesomeness he experienced during his brief encounter with heaven.

When we look at the beauty of the seasons, the sky and the oceans there are ways to explain those where others understand.  Imagine the beauty, peace and happiness in heaven that cannot be explained except in a spiritual realm.  The joy and happiness never ends and we can be assured that we will join them one day.  The most precious life lies ahead and this gives reason to be peaceful as we walk through life here.

2 Corinthians 12:2-4  New Living Translation

I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows.  Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body.  But I do know that I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.
