Have you ever met someone who brags all the time? These people boast that they can do everything. When they date they tell their dating partner about all previous dates and how wonderful the treatment they received. There is no way to measure up to all of that when you go out with such a person.
There are narcissists who think they can do everything. They jump into your conversations and take control and before you know it you are their audience while they continue to tell you everything about everything.
There are musicians who never miss a note and are too puffed to even acknowledge another person sitting next to them. They brag about all the performances they have done and are about to do leaving you to feel like what’s the use trying.
There are bosses who like to tear down the company’s owner stating the owner has no business running the place. He continues to let you know his ideas trump the owners and the company would fold if it were not for him.
These are people to pity. If at all possible run from them. Find another friend, boss or dating partner. Puffed up people are only puffed up with hot air. They have no foundation so they only seem big and powerful. Pray for these people. How empty they must be having only themselves and their built up image of who they are.
They fail to realize that God created them. Their lips were created to be used to help people and they continually misuse the intended purpose. Their talents were created by God to be used to glorify Him and to help others yet they use their talents for personal attention. The skills given to a person is intended to be used for a specific purpose and not to tear down the owner who provided him a job.
These puffed up people have one purpose which is to destroy everything around them in order to gain popularity. Unfortunately the popularity they gain is a poor reputation. It is a very dangerous lifestyle to take credit for what God has done. The only way you can help someone full of self pride is to step back as far as possible and pray for them. There is still hope that one day they will give credit back to God.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 New Living Translation
This is what the Lord says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone:
that they truly know Me and understand that I am the Lord Who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!
