It’s amazing these days how many people walk around holding a cell phone. They will even text while driving. We have to continually jump out of the way at the super market in order to avoid getting walked over by someone walking and talking on a cell phone.
While waiting in line a customer in front of us is busily talking on the cell phone while the cashier is ringing them up. Even in church various ring tones are heard and people will either not silence them or they will text or answer the cell phone while in the pew.
Their excuse is they cannot be rude to the people wanting to talk to them. They are so very careful to return every call and many brag on how many conversations they can engage on the phone.
Unfortunately they are totally unaware of even their immediate surroundings. The most obvious things are ignored because of these phones. People walk into holes, run into doors or disrupt church prayers because they are focused on the phone. They fail to see the number of people who hold doors open for them, guide them away from stepping into traffic or tapping their shoulder to point to the signs that say no cell phones in the room.
Cell phones are a way to communicate critical information without having to wait. Rapidly they become like an added body part that is equally as valuable as a heart or liver. However the cell phone addictions have become the latest and greatest way for officials to take complete control. While people are focused on cell phone conversations freedoms are rapidly being taken away without anyone noticing. There will be a day when suddenly some of the things in life we enjoy will be taken over. Rules and regulations will interrupt our lifestyles and we will be totally surprised. If the focus remains on idle chit chat on a cell phone there are no limits to the things that can take over our quality of life because we are too busy to challenge it. We don’t see these things coming because the cell phone controls us with distractions while the stage for an agenda is being set.
When it’s time to vote, people will blindly pick somebody without even a quick read on the platform of each candidate. Most will choose the loudest most brilliant candidate ultimately selecting their own demise.
The time is now to consider the real surroundings and not be so absorbed in the luxury of having the greatest technology. While affording the latest technology in a cell phone and saving and borrowing to get it, more important things are being overlooked. Having a cell phone to use is nice but when the cell phone starts to use us we have a serious problem.
Matthew 23:23-24 New Living Translation
“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. Blind guides! You strain your water so you won’t accidentally swallow a gnat, but you swallow a camel!
