Some things make no sense at all, especially when we pray for things to work out and the situation continues. There are certain troubles in life that stay for the duration. We continue to call on God and wonder why this particular situation haunts us day after day.
Jesus spoke of a farmer and the weeds. These weeds will last until the day of separation which is when heaven receives us and the trouble remains behind. The the parable is very clear that removing some troubles will actually harm us. Strange as it may seem with all the pain it causes there must be some benefits to us or God would have removed these troubles long ago.
What if we are an employer of a disgruntled employee who continually disrupts the work place yet any effort made to correct this employee is frowned upon by big bosses. What is possibly going on that we have to endure such nonsense yet we do not know what is going on behind the scenes or in the hearts of other people. It could be this employee supports an entire family on a very modest income. It’s possible the employee relies on our attitudes as a ray of hope when everything else in his life is out of order. It could very well be that the spirit of the Living God within us acts as a conviction to this person and people do not like to be confronted even spiritually. We may never know why our biggest work place hardship is not handled but God knows.
There are numerous situations where we are saddled with a person, thing or place that seems to hold us back yet God sees the end result. A sickness that doesn’t go away keeps us at the foot of the cross. A living place has neighbors that make our homes unpleasant but we pray for those neighbors. It’s possible our prayer for them is the only prayer they will ever get. Some times we work hard in school yet the grade never gets higher than average yet classmates see that it doesn’t take the smile from our faces. It’s all about God and the love of Jesus Christ.
We are not here for us. We are here for Christ and to represent Him in all things. If we are in a lingering situation that will last until the day of separation we will be judged on how well we represented Christ and not what we call equal earthly opportunities. Each day is an opportunity in and of itself for us to run the race placed before us. In due time He will see to it we are rewarded for the endurances it takes to stay focused on Christ.
Matthew 13:27-30 New Living Translation
“The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’ “‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed. “‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked. “‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’”
