Shakespeare stated long ago; To thine own self be true. This is by far the best advice we can give to ourselves. How often do we tell a partial truth or involve ourselves in something we shouldn’t then battle our consciences over it for days? Do we really get by with something? Not really….. While we spend a lot of time justifying to ourselves good reasons for doing what we should not have done, we are wasting moments we should spend on more productive things.
Could it be that the tugging at our hearts is actually the Holy Spirit speaking to us? If we have such a tugging, praise God. It’s God’s way of communicating with us and He communicates to all who will listen. It’s an opportunity to backtrack and make things ok. It’s an open communication with God for us to seek His forgiveness so we can freely move on. While none of us like to be exposed, this type of exposure is a blessing. It’s a chance to clean up one more unclean area in our hearts to make us more ready for the day we face Him. Facing God should be a day we look forward to. It is a day of excitement when we see Him in His glory and majesty. Is it not a blessing to be given insight on something we can polish before facing hIm? Praise God!!
Hebrews 4:12 Living Bible (TLB)
For whatever God says to us is full of living power: it is sharper than the sharpest dagger, cutting swift and deep into our innermost thoughts and desires with all their parts, exposing us for what we really are.
