A Not So Joyful Noise

Has it ever been where you just want to be still and listen out for the silent voice of God.  Something major has just happened in your life and you want to find peace.  You may have just lost a parent or child.  You may have just gotten news from the doctor that the ailment you have is one where there is no cure.  You may have gotten a grade in school that keeps you from getting into college.

The problem to you is major and you want your heart to be understood.  During this emotional turmoil a friend calls you to go party to take your mind off of things.  Sure, a party will take your mind off of things for the length of time you are forcing yourself to dance and cheer.  However the party will end and the emotions are still there.  You just want peace.

Another person invites you to come to a large church.  The music is loud.  There is even smoke blowing on stage.  The drums blare and the singers are deafening.  The sermon is more of that of a motivational speaker.  You feel really good but only for that moment.

Later an elderly man who can barely talk invites you sit in the park and talk.  He listens while you talk.  He understands.  Later he invites you to church.  It’s a small church that’s very old and has about a hundred people there.  You receive smile after smile.  The music is humbling where a handful of singers in a choir miss every note but the love that radiates from them brings a peace that cannot be described.

You think to yourself, this is Jesus Christ, full of love, understanding and peace.  Jesus is not boastful or proud.  Jesus Is Who He Is…….. Love.

Proverbs 25:20  New Living Translation

Singing cheerful songs to a person with a heavy heart is like taking someone’s coat in cold weather or pouring vinegar in a wound
