Force Does Not Always Win

by | Oct 15, 2018 | Encouragement | 0 comments

Here is a perfect illustration of how force can do totally the opposite of what is intended.  This example is borrowed from an article written many years ago.  A man has on a thick coat.  The harder the wind blew the tighter he placed his arms in front of himself holding his coat to this chest.  The rain started to pour down on him making him pull up the hood on his coat. The weather got extremely cold causing him to huddle with others who had on coats.

What would it take to get the coat off of him?  Later a warm sunshine came his way and he politely removed his coat.

People are the same way with their habits and reasons.  A smile and a simple example changes a person quicker than harsh words and reprimands.

2 Timothy 2:25-26  New Living Translation

Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.  Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
