Space Between Stepping Stones

Some of the most beautiful rivers are ones with many stones where water rushes all around.  If the water is shallow enough people will take off their shoes and wade from stone to stone.  Some stones are large enough for a person to sit and relax.  Other stones are only big enough for one step.  Clusters of stones create a beautiful scene while other times there are large spaces of flowing water with the next stone being far away.

Suddenly there becomes a storm or the dam upstream is released and the waters become high.  Only the largest stones can be seen or stood upon.

When the times come in life and the waters are too high and the current is too strong, wait.  When the next stepping stone is too far to go and the current will sweep away any effort, wait.  It’s time to focus on the safety God is providing right now and give thanks.  In His timing He will clear a way for the next step.  There are certain things in life God will handle by Himself.

Job 11:18-19a  Living Bible

You will have courage because you will have hope.  You will take your time and rest in safety.  You will lie down unafraid.
