We all have enemies. These are people who are out to get us for no reason at all. They either don’t like our looks or we have something they want or we were noticed by someone they idolize. There are numerous reasons why people do not like us and it is their privilege to choose who to like and who to dislike. However our response back to them is our privilege to choose. Do we continue kindness toward them or do we seek revenge? Do we pray for them or do we make fun of them?
We come across new people almost every day and thoughts come to our mind about many of these encounters. How do we feel when we see someone well dressed and high toned? How do we feel when a celebrity is in the area? How do we conduct ourselves around these encounters? How do we conduct ourselves when we encounter a drunk or a beggar wanting drug money?
What are our thoughts about these people who poorly represent themselves? They do not care about cleanliness or how they make others feel. These people want only what they can get out of us. How do we respond? Do we give a polite no thanks and pray for them or do we brush them off like they are gnats?
Little do we know that the maximum amount of love we can give to Jesus is our best example of love toward unapproachable people.
Luke 6:35 New Living Translation
“Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for He is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked.
